Commander Lawrence Ollice attended Auburn University through NECP ,graduating in June 1992 with a Bachelor of Materials Engineering and commissioning in November 1992 at Naval Officer Candidate School Newport, RI.
Following nuclear power and basic submarine training, Commander Ollice served in various Division Officer billets on board USS GREENEVILLE (SSN 772) from June 1994 to January 1997. He completed his submarine qualifications on board USS MONTPELIER (SSN 765) during a five-month Mediterranean deployment.
Following his JO tour, he served as the Reactor Dynamics/Core Characteristics Division Director/Instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command until December 1998, where he also earned a Master of Business Administration from University of Central Florida. He served an additional year of shore duty at Submarine Development Squadron TWELVE Tactical Action Group, working on the Acoustic Rapid COTS Insertion (ARCI) program at its inception in Groton, CT.
After completing advanced submarine training, Commander Ollice assumed duties as Engineer Officer on board SUBMARINE NR-1, a deep diving (3,000ft) nuclear powered research submarine, home ported in Groton, CT from June 2000 to September 2003. During this tour he conducted four deployments: Two Eastern/Northern Atlantic, one Mediterranean and one Gulf of Mexico. NR-1 conducted oceanographic research missions, surveying the USS MONITOR and locating and surveying the airship USS AKRON that crashed off the New Jersey coast in 1932, among others. From September 2003 to December 2005, he served as the Squadron Material Officer for Submarine Development Squadron TWELVE.
Commander Ollice served as Executive Officer of USS ALABAMA (SSBN 731), homeported in Bremerton, WA while she was in a refueling overhaul and D-5 conversion from May 2006 until October 2007. At the conclusion of his XO tour, he deployed to the Western Pacific for three months on USS PASADENA (SSN 752).
His next assignment was to the staff of Commander Naval Forces Europe/Commander SIXTH Fleet until December 2009 as the Deputy Director for Black Sea/Eurasia, where he planned, coordinated and executed Black Sea Partnership Cruise and Eurasian Partnership Capstone. These enduring events aim to increase maritime safety and security with the developing maritime forces of Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Turkmenistan, Norway, Sweden, and Poland.
After completing the Prospective Commanding Officer pipeline, Commander Ollice served as the Deputy for Readiness at Submarine Squadron ONE and Deputy for Training at Submarine Squadron SEVEN from May 2010 to March 2013.
