USS Jefferson City Hold Change of Command

Cmdr. Edward L. Anderson turned over leadership of USS Jefferson City (SSN 759) to Cmdr. Brien Dickson Feb. 12 during a traditional change of command ceremony pierside the submarine at Naval Base Point Loma, Calif.

The guest speaker for the ceremony was Captain Rich Correll, Commander, Submarine Squadron 11.

Cmdr. Anderson assumed command of the Los Angeles-class submarine in July 2008. During his tour, Jefferson City successfully completed three Operational Reactor Safeguards Examinations, two Tactical Readiness Evaluations, a Docking Selective Restricted Availability, an Interdeployment Training Cycle, seven Strike Group exercises, and a Fifth Fleet Deployment.

Under Cmdr. Anderson's leadership, Jefferson City earned the Navy Expeditionary Medal for their deployment, as well as the Commander, Submarine Squadron 11 Tactical "T" for 2008, 2009, and 2010; and the Supply Blue "E" for 2008 and 2009. Additionally, Jefferson City was Commander, Submarine Squadron 11's Ney Award nomination for 2008, 2009, and 2010 - a Ney finalist in 2010.

Cmdr. Anderson's next assignment is with the Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C.

Cmdr. Dickson comes to Jefferson City from the staff of Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the Submarine Operations Officer. There, he provided oversight of daily Pacific submarine operations, which included managing water space in the Fleet exercise areas while ensuring the exercises and training promoted combat effectiveness of the Fleet.
