City of Corpus Christi Awarded
Battle "E"

(AGANA, Guam) – Commander, Submarine Squadron Fifteen (CSS-15) Capt. Doug Wright awarded the CSS-15 Battle “E” for 2009 to USS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI (SSN-705). The Battle Efficiency Award signifies the overall readiness of a command to accomplish its mission over the span of a year.
“I am extremely proud of each and every crewmember,” stated Cdr. Rob Gaucher, Commanding Officer, USS City of Corpus Christi. “This award recognizes the hard work and steadfast effort of our Sailors as they carried out our mission of maintaining peace and security in the Western Pacific.”
The purpose of the Battle Efficiency competition is to recognize outstanding command performance in a variety of areas including engineering, logistic management, battle readiness, and day-to-day operations.
In addition to the Battle “E” award, the City of Corpus Christi was also awarded the Red and Green “N” for Navigation, the Green “C” for Communications, the Red “DC” for Damage Control, and Blue “E” for Supply.
“This award culminates the hard work of our crew this past year,” stated Master Chief Machinist Mate (Submarines) Terry Fuller, Chief of the Boat, USS City of Corpus Christi. “I am proud of our crew and what we have accomplished.”
“City of Corpus Christi is the top boat in the squadron,” said Wright. “The ship served superbly throughout the entire theater and is very deserving of the Battle E.”
Submarine Squadron Fifteen, reactivated in 2001, is now home to the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705), USS Houston (SSN 713), USS Buffalo (SSN 715), and USS Frank Cable (AS 40).
