CDR Caleb Kerr
COMMANDING OFFICER
USS BREMERTON (SSN 698)
Commander Caleb Kerr, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
As a junior officer, he was assigned to USS RHODE ISLAND (SSBN 740) (BLUE) and completed five strategic deterrent patrols. In 1997, he reported to Naval Prototype Training Unit, Charleston where he served as a Shift Engineer on Ex USS SAM RAYBURN (MTS 635).
Beginning in 2000, he served as the Navigation and Operations Officer on USS SANTA FE (SSN 763) completing two Western Pacific Deployments during his tenure. After his submarine department head assignment, he reported to Naval Personnel Command and served as the Submarine Department Head Detailer.
In 2006, he began a two year tour as the Executive Officer on USS BUFFALO (SSN 715) encompassing two Western Pacific Deployments and a change of home port to Guam.
He commanded Provincial Reconstruction Team Nuristan, Afghanistan in 2008-2009 during Operation Enduring Freedom, operating from a remote Forward Operating Base in the Hindu Kush mountain range. He reported to USS BREMERTON (SSN 698) to relieve as the Commanding Officer in July of 2010.
Commander Kerr is authorized to wear the Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal in addition to other unit awards and commendations.
