CDR Noel J. Gonzalez

USS CHEYENNE (SSN 773)
CDR Noel J. Gonzalez was born in Camaguey, Cuba. He graduated with honors from Florida Atlantic University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 2002, he received a Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology from the University of Maryland and a Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University in 2003.
Following nuclear power and submarine training he reported to USS BOISE (SSN 764) in June 1996. While on BOISE, the ship conducted three deployments to the Northern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea.
In December 1999, he reported as Deputy Operations Officer (J3A) to Joint Southern Surveillance Operations Command in Key West Florida where he coordinated the air defense for Naval Base Guantanamo, Cuba during the initial arrival of prisoners from Afghanistan.
In February 2002, he reported aboard USS DALLAS (SSN 700) as Combat Systems Officer.
While on DALLAS, the ship conducted one Mediterranean-Indian Ocean deployment and was awarded the Battle "E". DALLAS is one of the Los Angeles Attack Submarines equipped with Dry Deck Shelter (DDS) capability.
In September 2005, he reported as an Assessment Officer to J8 in U.S. Special Operations Command, Tampa Florida. While in USSOCOM, he oversaw the funding for the SEALS surface and undersea mobility capabilities.
In December 2007, he reported as Executive Officer of USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729) in Kings Bay, GA.
He was the first XO in charge of training both Blue and Gold Crews during initial certification post conversion from SSBN to SSGN. The ship conducted its first deployment in 2009 to the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf.
In December 2009 he reported as European Division Foreign Engagement Officer to the N8 in Naples, Italy for COMSIXFLT. He was in charge of all the planning and scheduling of key foreign dignitaries in direct communication with the American Embassies and C6F Flag Officers, to include COMNAVEUR. He planned and executed all engagements onboard CVNs and ships in the C6F Area of Responsibility.
