CDR Dearcy P. Davis IV
COMMANDING OFFICER
USS HOUSTON (SSN 713)

Born and raised in Harrisonburg, Virginia, CDR Davis graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After completion of Nuclear Power Training and the Submarine Officer Basic Course, CDR Davis reported onboard the USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734)(GOLD) in October 1995, where he served as Main Propulsion Assistant, Damage Control Assistant and Assistant Weapons Officer. While onboard, he completed six strategic deterrent patrols.

From February 1999 to February 2001, CDR Davis was assigned to COMMANDER, SUBMARINE SQUADRON ELEVEN, where he served as the Battle Group Operations Officer. He then reported to the Submarine Officer's Advanced Course in Groton, Connecticut for department head training, graduating in July 2001.

In August 2001, CDR Davis reported onboard USS OLYMPIA (SSN 717) as the Engineer Officer. There, he completed two Western Pacific deployments, operating in the Fifth Fleet and Seventh Fleet areas of responsibility. During that time, the ship was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation and two Battle Efficiency Awards.

In June 2004, he transferred to the Pacific Fleet Nuclear Propulsion Examination Board, serving as an inspector and Board Executive Officer. Subsequently, he attended the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College from June 2006 until June 2007, graduating with distinction and receiving his Masters Degree in Military Studies.

In August 2007, CDR Davis relieved as Executive Officer onboard USS TOLEDO (SSN 769). While there, the ship completed the first Depot Modernization Period conducted at Northrup Grumman Newport News Shipyard and successfully returned to operational status.

In December 2009, following completion of his Executive Officer tour, CDR Davis returned to Hawaii and served as the Pacific Fleet Current Undersea Operations Officer and was part of the Joint Support Force during Operation Tomodachi.

CDR Davis is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (6 awards) and various other unit awards and commendations.
