"A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde" Restoration - Special Screenings
Third World Newsreel announces the restoration of A LITANY FOR SURVIVAL: THE LIFE AND WORK OF AUDRE LORDE, the most comprehensive portrait of the legendary feminist and self-described "Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet" ever committed to film. In a cultural moment when Black and queer histories face systemic erasure—over 20,000 books banned in the last few years, 403 university DEI programs dismantled, federal agencies have stripped LGBTQIA+ terminology from public documents—this preservation is a political necessity. The "Preservation as Resistance" campaign including the restoration of the film "A Litany for Survival", is presented by Color Congress, through its Elev8Docs Marketing Initiative.

When I first joined a twn workshop, I was an aspiring filmmaker with a vision but uncertain how to bring it to life. twn didn't just offer me tools and training; they provided a community that believed in my story.
When I first joined a twn workshop, I was an aspiring filmmaker with a vision but uncertain how to bring it to life. twn didn't just offer me tools and training; they provided a community that believed in my story. The mentors and peers I met there have become lifelong collaborators and friends. Today, I'm proud to say my documentary, which highlights the struggles and triumphs of Indigenous communities, has not only been made but has received acclaim in film festivals. This journey of empowerment and creation began with twn, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

"Griffin and Parkerson's documentary “A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde” celebrates a visionary woman, who in her life and literary work embodied the intersection of three social protest movements: civil, women’s and gay-lesbian rights."
"Tenderly tracing the life of poet Audre Lorde, the film cracks open life’s poetry guided by Lorde’s sincere belief more and better is possible if we envision it enough to will it into existence."
"A Litany for Survival" chronicles a life that bridged movements and demanded that none of them leave anyone behind..."
